Description:Ferdinand VI was the King of Spain from 9 July 1746 until his death in 1759. He was the third ruler of the Spanish Bourbon dynasty.
He had a peaceful reign, and not many changes occurred in Spain during his rule. He became mentally unstable towards the end of his tenure, much like his predecessor Phillip V.
Ferdinand was generally a quiet, melancholic type. He enjoyed shooting and music to pass the time during a lonely childhood. He was married in 1729 to Infanta Barbara of Portugal who many say caused Ferdinand to fall into a deep depression when she died. He spent his last days as ruler wandering around his park unwashed, unshaven, and wearing only his night gown.
